Well that was easy, all you have to do is mess up the name of the winner of a dying organization and then you have the ENTIRE Internet's attention. Sponsors of the event must be delighted by all of the earned media this is getting.
Picture this situation: The marketing team for Miss Universe sitting around a table and throwing out ideas on how to get Miss Universe more press and appeal. They are competing with contests like Miss America and even The Victoria Secret show. Some intern in the back softly says, "what if we announce the wrong winner". Everyone turns to him and then back to the head of the marketing team. A smile appears on the boss's face "Genius".
Miss Columbia must be upset, but let's be real she's gonna get a ton of pity sponsorship opportunities now that she was "cheated" out of the crown. In the end of the day everybody wins - except of course the entire Internet because we have to deal with these Steve Harvey Memes for the next 48 hours.
